NodePilot Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 September 2026

NodePilot is an Android application by Shaun.M, powered by coco, for managing systems that the user configures and controls.

Data handled by NodePilot

NodePilot stores configuration required for its functions locally on the Android device. Depending on the user's configuration, this can include node names, host names or IP addresses, SSH ports and usernames, SSH host keys, MAC addresses, Wake-on-LAN broadcast addresses, app preferences and SSH identity material.

SSH identity and security

NodePilot generates an SSH identity on the device. In Standard Security mode, the private SSH key is stored locally in encrypted form and protected by an encryption key held in Android Keystore. NodePilot does not send the private key to Shaun.M, coco, or a developer-operated server.

Network communication

NodePilot communicates directly with systems specified by the user. Administrative commands and system information are exchanged directly between the Android device and those systems over SSH. Wake-on-LAN packets may be sent to the network configured by the user.

Collection by the developer

NodePilot currently uses no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, tracking service or developer-operated cloud backend. Host configuration, SSH credentials and system information are not collected by Shaun.M or coco through the app.

Backups and device transfer

NodePilot disables Android backup and device-to-device transfer of its application data. This is intended to prevent security-sensitive configuration and SSH identity material from being copied through Android backup mechanisms.

External services

The Android operating system and Google Play may process information independently when the app is installed, updated or distributed. Their processing is governed by their own privacy policies and is not controlled by NodePilot.
